About the Virtual Hack

Ideas shape the world around us. To make ideas come alive, you need to capture, shape, share and collaborate on those ideas. The Wacom Virtual Inkathon is giving you 12 weeks to build out your innovation idea using Wacom’s WILL SDKs.

WILL, the Wacom Ink Layer Language, is a universal inking engine and ink layer framework which connects hardware, software, and applications. WILL is a technology that enables high-quality digital pen and ink experience.

The SDK’s come with writing & sketching tools and a framework that makes exchanging and collaboration with ink between different entities possible. Write and draw on the same canvas without being in the same location or using the same device. Just like real ink on paper.

Winners!

  • ArduwriteAutomation of your own personal handwriting.
  • Doodle the WebDoodle and write on any website in Google Chrome.
  • Ink AnalyzerAbility to diagnose motor disorders using Wacom tablets online and can run on all devices from web to mobile.

Take the Challenge

Your challenge is to stand out in the crowded marketplace using advanced digital ink features enabled by Wacom’s WILL SDK. For guidance, you can start from these themes and go beyond:

  • Business – Ex: Work with remote colleagues on a digital canvas the same way you would use a whiteboard.

  • Signature – Ex: Add secure digital signature capture in an online form. (You can do this by integrating WILL along with Wacom’s Signature solutions)

  • Consumer – Ex: Instead of typing another emoji, you could share your expression directly with your friends.

For the best experience, create applications that use the full feature set of WILL combined with a Wacom-enabled pen, like the Samsung S Pen or Wacom feel™ technology devices or Bluetooth pens like the Bamboo Fineline 2.

Prizes

Success at the Wacom Inkathon is rewarded. The top 3 finalists receive:

  • Opportunity to pitch your project to seasoned industry leaders and compete for the grand prize during CES

  • Opportunity to launch your product in Wacom’s marketplace and have your app displayed at future Wacom events
